SPECIAL: FrodoCPU - CPU Prods. USA

Whenever I receive a CD with music that I basicly DON'T listen to every day but that immediately touches me, I know I found another release that proves that this real indie music is the best music in the world ... the real, true music. Not produced with a glance at the bank account or a possible chart success. These people love the music they produce it's part of their life .. it's pure 'n real however it sounds.
Frodo's music is jumpy, dancey, poppy, funky .. even with a adult radio touch, so it has all the *quality* that I basicly don't like when presented by the profit making music industry .. but this is is VERY different .. so positive .. so natural ... so uhhhhhh GREAT!!

It simply makes you feel good .. does'nt sound like *official* radio. Somehow it reminds me on the concept (not the music) of Donald Fagan and Walter Becker (Steely Dan) but often these (sorry!) get a bit too lame for my taste - Frodo is always kinda positive powerful with fresh new ideas. The reason may be that Frodo came from Oslo Norway 'n now lives in Santa Barbara, California, USA ... I don't know .. I just know that this really touches me 'n not just causes me to say "ya, ok well done - good musicians" ..

This release immediately was put into my *to keep forever* section, which is rare these days that I get loads of releases every week - a winner .. a true winner ... very, VERY recommended!!!

The Global Muse Album Review

FrodoCPU blends the beauty of great songwriting and musical expertise to create an album of superior adult contemporary style pop. The songs are about love and life, passions and romance. The music is very artistic and contains a classic style that has long been missing in today's pop realm. From the days when synthesizers ruled the airwaves and music with feeling was the king of the charts, this music brings a new light to the future of pop.

With a Steely Dan kind of funky groove, this music moves the listener in ways that modern pop could never. Songs like "Long Distance Friend" and "Waiting For You" simply sum up the musical experience of this great style. I really enjoyed this music and found it to be the missing link in today's sound. The music fans who will be attracted to this music are the ones who appreciate the classical pop sound and want a little more romance and passion in their music of choice. All in all, this is one great album and something that a lot of people could enjoy if given the chance.

Song(s) - It’s Time/Love Eye

Wow! Some material here that really cooks. "It’s Time" is jazz influenced, but in a Latin/Santana way. I’m sure you all know how much I "hate" guitar playing! Excellent! Thank you for that nice little whammied harmonic series of notes right at the 70 second mark. Glad to hear creative playing! I’d better "can" the redundant exclamation points, but sometimes I can’t help myself when I hear a great guitarist for the first time. Singing and harmonies are likewise excellent. Great feel to the entire song. A neat little piece with some awesome guitarahhhhhhhh !

"Love Eye" has a Reggae beat to it. Again, some cool guitar playing, but more in the background this time. These are thoughtful lyrics. There is nice interplay between the female vocalists and the male lead. Percussion is likewise excellent.

Both songs here show a professionalism in writing, instrumentation, as well as in recording production. Excuse me while I exit my lofi mode and download both these songs. You should do the same !

THREE WISHES RECORDS REVIEW - 2001

What a wonderful CD! Well produced and performed, FrodoCPU draws from soul, funk, pop and jazz to create a warm and moving collection of songs.

Dedicated To My Love, which can be compared to artists like Al Jarreau, George Benson, Toto, and Branford Marsalas, will just move you body and soul. The background vocals in the bridge are just gorgeous, and the groove will have you swaying in time.

"It's Time" has more of a Steely Dan sound, mixed in with a touch of 70's soul. The lyrics have a strong positive message that really uplifts your soul. My one (and a small) criticism is that although the lead vocal is a good performance, I can't help feeling that it isn't a great performance. It just feels like he's holding back a bit, maybe sacrificing some passion for perfection in the studio?

It's been a long time since I've gotten to listen to music of this genre that's really moved me, aside from my Toto IV CD. This disk is a total joy.

This is pop heaven. Gorgeous production and powerful vocals abound. This one is sure to inspire a whole new generation of Frodo converts.

The Musicians Resource Page - 2000

Frode Holm spent several years mastering the art of digital music before embarking on the FRODOCPU project and it shows. The latest release by Frode Holm is a mix of reggae, rock and soft rock. The musical composition is excellent. Frode had an army of talented musicians and vocalists backing this effort. The FRODOCPU cd makes extensive use of synthesizers and keyboards to create a unique blend of sounds that are very pleasing to the ear. Love Eye is one track that stands out with a weaving of vocals from both Frode Holm and former Don Henley backup singer Jana Anderson. This tracks reggae style will have you swaying to the music. If your looking for a new soulful rock artist to add to your collection, FRODOCPU may be the CD you've been searching for.

Heads up, fans of nice westcoast pop. Frode Holm and Atle Bakken are FrodoCPU. Norwegians, but live in California. This is a very good cd. A small touch of Steely Dan and George Benson here and there. Groove and swinging. Frode sings very nice. He has a very soft and smooth voice. Nice keys by Atle and great backing vocals by two girls named Linda and Charity McCrary. This is a very strong cd all through. I miss real drums. That's the only criticism i have. Great work fellows !

This is an unsigned band? If I were an A&R rep I'd be all over this. Dig that bass man. beautiful voice and lyrics that mean something to me. Very positive. This is a band with a future.

.... is pure brilliance and the beats are pefectly tied into one another. The mood is pure genius and it's reassuring that someone actually knows how to play an instrument.

....It is one of the better songs I have heard tonight. It would go down well at a Night club. It is the sort of stuff that is being really successful at the moment! Good Luck! You deserve a shot at the top 75. We've reviewed you well!

Are they for real??
There's a most definate 'Summer of Love' feeling about this song. Not sure about how much audience capture they hope to achieve but it still works for Santana. I liked this song, but am I being nostalgic. Aye! So what. There's no pretence, no false jobs, no look at me I'm pretty (and a virgin), no plastic music here. Nostalga ? No. real music. Thanks Guys.

....Very well produced. The part and instrumentation (even if it was all done on keyboards) was very well done. Vocally, excellent! Both male and female vox! In general, a great effort. Don't know if this has a chance in today's angst driven music market, but goo luck anyway!
